Matters of the Heart Counseling was established in 2020 with the goal of providing quality counseling to meet the needs of individuals, families, children and teens. Kirsten Crosby-Blose started with MOH as an intern and is now a full-time employee. Blose holds a master’s degree in social work with a specialization in infant and early childhood mental health from the Erikson Institute, a graduate certificate in infant mental health from Chatham University and a bachelor’s degree in educational and family services from Juniata College.

She says, “At Matters of the Heart Counseling, we recognize the interconnectedness of our clients’ lives and environments. Our dedication lies in meeting the diverse needs of our clients by addressing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. By using relational, attachment and trauma-informed principles, we navigate alongside our clients’ journey, fostering healing and growth for a resilient and fulfilling life.”

Services include individual counseling, neurofeedback, couples’ therapy and intensives and play/art therapy. They specialize in parents with infants, toddlers or preschoolers, as well as expecting and/or new parents.

Crosby-Blose shares, “I have nearly 20 years of experience working with families through Lancaster’s Infant Toddler Early Intervention program. As a special instructor, I first spent time working with an ongoing caseload of families to support them with things like communication development, challenging behavior and play skills. Most of my career in early intervention was spent conducting developmental assessments in family’s homes and creating a plan of intervention to move forward. Because of the experience of working with speech, occupational and physical therapists, I tend to think holistically about development.”

She explains, “I am excited to begin practicing as a developmentally informed social worker in the Landisville and Elizabethtown offices. I saw a need in our community for counselors/therapists who work with very young children and their parents in out-patient settings. I hope to be able to provide services that help to meet this need.”
