Deborah “D.J.” Campos-Bard

Deborah “D.J.” Campos-Bard is a soft tissue injury specialist and owner of DéProv Injury Solutions. Her holistic health journey began in 2012, when she received massage therapy to relieve chronic abdominal pain. Inspired to bring this complementary healing modality to others, she studied massage at the Finger Lakes School of Massage, in New York, and worked at a therapeutic massage clinic after graduation.

Moving to Lancaster, she noticed that most massage options comprised luxurious, spa-style pampering, not therapeutic bodywork. “It was a very different culture surrounding massage,” advises Campos-Bard. She decided to open her own studio, DéProv Massage Therapy, in 2018, providing custom massage based on each client’s specific needs.

As Campos-Bard grew the practice, she discovered more gaps in the current medical model surrounding pain management for musculoskeletal injuries, and her massage practice evolved into more specific work addressing functionality. Over the past two years, she has been certified in the Peak Injury Treatment Method, a hands-on manual therapy that offers a functional-based treatment approach for chronic pain.

“I use the Peak Method to get to the root cause of pain by collecting measurable data and developing a strategic plan for treating each client,” she explains. Because her business model evolved to focus specifically on injuries, she changed the name to DéProv Injury Solutions.

Treating Specific Injuries
Campos-Bard specializes in neck and shoulder pain, explaining that chronic pain is often caused by scar tissue which influences the function of muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves, as well as fascia, the thin webbing of connective tissue that surrounds organs, bones and nerves. By means of the Peak Injury Treatment Method form of manual therapy, soft tissue is loosened by breaking down scar tissue and releasing trapped nerves, thus reducing inflammation, restoring range of motion and relieving pain.

The Peak Method was developed by Dr. Matt Maggio, a chiropractor. He trains massage therapists in a profession where practitioners gain vast knowledge of anatomy to focus on finding and remediating scar tissue. The method is free from pharmaceuticals and non-invasive. As a result, Campos-Bard has seen significant increase in overall functionality and long-lasting pain relief in more than 90 percent of her clients.

She reviews the symptoms, history and origin of the pain, and how an injury might have occurred with each new client. “It’s very focused, and I ask specific questions to gather information about what’s going on with them,” notes Campos-Bard. In addition, she performs a full functional evaluation by checking tissue and having each client do a series of range-of-motion tests. Then she compiles a report and develops a treatment plan.

Peak Method sessions take approximately 15 to 30 minutes. They are consistent and strategically scheduled to support the effectiveness of each specific treatment plan. Campos-Bard will also review daily living routines to help clients adapt ergonomically sound habits and prevent future injury.

Campos-Bard is focused on growing DéProv Injury Solutions and helping as many people as possible live pain-free lives. She enjoys educating and inspiring clients to realize that they have the power within themselves to live a better, pain-free life. “Clients often thank me for listening to them and showing compassion,” she shares. “People don’t have to deal with chronic pain, they have the power to live healthy, vibrant and pain-free lives.”
