Hempfield Apothetique Creates New Wellness Offerings

Aug 31, 2023 09:31AM ● By Sheila Julson

Hempfield Apothetique was founded by registered nurse Heather Kreider as a way to offer her line of handcrafted Hempfield Botanicals cannabis products. The business has since grown to offer classes, workshops and medical marijuana consultations in a wellness-focused, welcoming space.

They include Sound Immersion Meditation, which uses instruments such as tuning forks, Himalayan singing bowls and gongs to help induce a deeply meditative state. The popular Rhythm for Our Soul Drumming Circle uses West African djembe drums to help participants release stress. “When you’re drumming, you’re focusing very much on rhythm,” Kreider explains. “It’s an amazing escape and release.”

Hempfield Apothetique offers group guided meditation, led by sound therapist Lori Stahl, at 5 p.m. each Monday. They also play pre-recorded sound meditation sessions for free for those unable to pay for live meditation sessions.

Kreider notes that sound has been used since ancient times as a conduit for meditation. “Just taking the time to pause and allow the mind to not think about anything,” she says. “As children, we get naptime as a chance to decompress if we’re overstimulated. But as adults, we just keep going and pushing ourselves until we reach the breaking point.”

The Puff Puff Paint class allows users to release their creativity onto canvas while partaking in legal cannabis products. The Electrons Plus experience is a guided pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy that can help eliminate pain. The private sessions are led by Michael De Hoff, a human movement specialist, Electrons Plus practitioner and the owner of Free Flow Training, LLC.

During the month of September (2023), Hempfield Apothetique will host two unique workshops: at noon on September 10, 2023, the Seasonal Cooking Series, An Ayurvedic Approach to Seasonal Eating, will educate participants about beneficial foods, herbs and spices for autumn. An Ayurvedic facilitator will demonstrate how to make ghee, a clarified butter used in several Indian recipes, and a vegetarian shepherd’s pie.

From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., September 9, 2023, the Cooking with Cannabis class will demonstrate how to make hemp-infused butter and oil to use in many dishes. Attendees will also learn about dosing for safe consumption.

The Community Acupuncture + the Five Elements Series, Autumn Treatment In Traditional Chinese Medicine session, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., September 15, 2023,, is a community acupuncture session led by Nick Dower, a licensed acupuncturist with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Holistic Therapy.

“Our classes focus on natural health and well-being, but they focus on cannabis, as well,” shares Kreider. “We teach people how they can incorporate cannabis into their wellness routines in an effective way. We use cannabis as a plant-based medicine, rather than for recreational use. As cannabis consumers, we designed a safe space for everyone.”

Expanding the Line of Hempfield Botanicals

After the 2018 federal Farm Act legalized the production of hemp, also defined as cannabis, along with many of its derivatives, Kreider created the line of Hempfield Botanicals cannabidiol (CBD) topicals, smokable flowers, gummies, body products and pet products. She has since crafted products with other beneficial cannabinoids.

New items include 2018 Farm Act-compliant, hemp-derived, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) gummies. Each serving contains less than 0.3 percent THC, the federally legal limit, Kreider says. She recommends the gummies for people that cannot take oral tinctures or are seeking pain relief and improved sleep.

Also new is THCa smokable flower, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that will eventually produce THC when heated or aged over time. It’s stronger than CBD, Kreider says, and a Pennsylvania medical cannabis card is not required for purchase.

The new Hempzer Seltzer is a refreshing nonalcoholic, non-THC seltzer beverage brewed with hemp instead of hops. There is no sugar added. In addition, Kreider now offers hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) cartridges. “HHC is found in the seeds and pollen of the hemp plant, but can be converted through a hydrogenation process involving THC that’s either converted from CBD or extracted in its natural form,” Kreider explains.

The Hempfield Botanicals line includes blends of sativa strains, which are commonly used during active day hours; indica strains, which promote relaxation; and hybrid blends of both. Many of Kreider’s topical products and oral oils are made with hemp grown in Lancaster County.

Through cannabis education, Kreider enjoys empowering people to take their health into their own hands. “When you see that light bulb go off and they realize they can improve their health, it’s pretty amazing,” she says.
