Upgrades to the Neversink Trails

Reading Conservation
nonprofit Berks Nature is the leading agent for the conservation of the
environment in Berks County, managing more than 500 acres of the Neversink
Mountain Preserve and Community Forest for low-impact recreation and ecological
resiliency. The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) Trails
Solutions was hired to review and provide recommendations for improving trail
systems there.
Their final report found the
network of managed and unmanaged trails has created an unsustainable trails
system, with implications for Neversink Mountain’s sensitive habitats and trail
user experiences. Community meetings in December provided feedback and Trails
Solutions made recommendations for improving the mountain’s entire trail
network. Neversink Mountain and its trails will remain open while Berks Nature
implements its trail improvements over the next several years.
