 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Silent Retreats at KAIROS

KAIROS: School of Spiritual Formation offers monthly silent retreats as well as day retreats throughout the year at the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth, in Wernersville. Situated on 240 acres, it is a place of natural beauty.

A day retreat titled Sister Marcy Springer Introduces the Mystics will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., November 18. Springer will tap into the vast mystical heritage, and focus on Teresa of Avila and Thomas Merton in her teaching about contemplative prayer. Using Teresa’s Interior Castle and Merton’s awareness that deep within each human soul is an interior diamond place which belongs entirely to God, the retreat day will expand the horizons and understanding of contemplative prayer.

Silent retreats offer a sacred space of silence, stillness and rest, to facilitate deeper listening to God and what is within the heart. Each retreat weekend is shaped by this intention and offers brief (optional) input focused on that month’s theme. However, the primary focus is the retreatant’s individual journey (unique needs, desires and prayer). Spiritual direction is provided at no additional cost.

KAIROS, not affiliated with any particular church or denomination, offers spiritual formation classes and retreats in a loving, spacious environment that nurtures people’s desire to deepen their relationship with God, self and others. Classes are offered in the context of community and sharing one’s faith journey, but also embrace the disciplines of silence and solitude.

Cost: $75. For more information, contact Jess Okanya, Interim Executive Director; call 717-669-2957, email [email protected] or visit KairosJourney.org.
