Race to Remember 5K Run/Walk Supports Dementia Research

LMI Advertising presents its 6th Annual Race to Remember 5K run/walk, beginning at 9 a.m., November 11, at Reidenbaugh Elementary School, in Manheim Township. Registration is from 7:45 until 8:45 a.m.

This year marks 10 years since LMI Advertising’s founder, Gary Bellanca, was diagnosed with early onset dementia at age 55. He was re-diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia three and half years later. Frontotemporal dementia is a rare disorder that affects the front (frontal lobes) and the sides (temporal lobes) of the brain. Frontotemporal has a more rapid onset than Alzheimer’s disease. There are no treatments approved by the FDA for frontotemporal dementia, and none that have been shown to be effective. As the number of diagnosed patients continues to rise, the need for funding research is paramount.

A Race to Remember has helped to raise over $536,000 to help provide support and further research to develop treatment and ultimately find a cure.

Cost: $25 until 10/31; $30 afterwards and on race day. To register or for more information, call 717-569-8826 or visit LMIAdvertising.com/AR2R.
