Dr. Clorinda Forte-Katz Provides Brain-Based Pain Relief

May 25, 2017 08:10AM ● By Gisele Rinaldi Siebold

Katz Family Chiropractic, owned by Dr. Clorinda Forte-Katz, a brain-based wellness chiropractor and certified craniopath with 31 years of experience, promotes wellness as a way of life, because it is easier to stay well than to get well. She points out that just like a dentist recommends regular appointments twice a year, and vehicles require maintenance service, chiropractic can be used as a tool that enhances a wellness lifestyle.

Katz is advanced certified in, and an instructor of, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), a gentle system of chiropractic that integrates theart, science and philosophy of optimizing the innate human healing systems. SOT balances the body using body weight, gravity and breath, and introduces the correction in a much different way than is usually associated with chiropractic,” explains Katz.

Balancing the triad of health––chemical, structural and emotional factors––keeps the body and the brain working well. In addition to applying SOT, Katz also utilizes Brain Tap, a process that uses light and sound to retrain the brain and help get patients into a meditative state. Brain Tap is the result of 30 years of scientific research based on the work of Dr. Patrick Porter. The purpose is to naturalize the brain waves to achieve optimum health. This proven method, administered by a trained doctor of chiropractic, offers instant relief from stress, anxiety and tension, and promotes calmness and a sense of well-being. Katz uses biofeedback to help clients manage stress and find relief from chronic pain.

The brain sees pain as pain, regardless of whether it is acute or chronic,” notes Katz. People can get attached to pain and ponder What happens when the pain goes away? Will more pain or different pain come?’ Emotional stress has a greater impact than even other factors. Bio or neuro feedback can assist with getting past pain so that a body is able to not only handle stress, but recover from it as well.

Brainwave frequencies represent a specific level of brain activity. Beta brainwaves are linked with waking consciousness; the beta brain is the only place where pain is felt. Alpha brain waves are associated with deep relaxation. Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep, and delta brain waves are experienced during deep sleep. Katz encourages clients to meditate, deeply relax and visualize being pain-free as a mechanism to relieve pain. In addition, she recommends that clients sleep well and long in order to reach the state of delta brain waves, because deep sleep in linked to deep healing and regeneration.

People of all ages, beginning at birth, can receive chiropractic care, and become in tune with their bodies. Part of the wellness improvement is that clients understand their bodies, and learn that pain does not have to be a part of everyday life. Chiropractic increases the validity of maintaining vitality at any age. The body is meant to be full of vitality and health; it is our natural state and birthright,” shares Katz.
