Events Support Refugees

June 20 is globally recognized as World Refugee Day and celebrated around the world, and this year, Church World Service (CWS) of Lancaster is proclaiming the entire month of June as the celebration of refugee strength and resilience.

Music For Everyone (MFE), CWS and Tellus360 will present an event from 6:30 to 10 p.m., June 7, at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center. The evening will consist of a reception with snacks, wine and beer and a performance of an Irish playParental discretion advised, as the play is spoken like a true IrishmanTellus360 has designated MFE and CWS as beneficiaries of the evening, and 100 percent of the ticket sales will be split between the two organizations.

Tellus360, Lancaster Stands Up and local community member, Paul Harnik, are hosting a square dance from 2 to 5 p.m., June 11, at Tellus360, in Lancaster, in support of, and to raise funds for, Lancaster’s refugees, immigrants and veterans.

With more than 65.3 million refugees and people living in refugee-like situations, there are fewer and fewer opportunities for them to rebuild their lives; for many, resettlement is the only option. That is the work that CWS Lancaster does—offering hope, home and the chance for refugees to establish their lives once lost.
