After the pursuit of a pre-medical degree in college left him disillusioned about the prospect of prescribing drugs or performing surgeries as a career, Dr. Martin Rodgers, known as Dr. Marty to patients, attended a workshop on chiropractic care that changed the course of his life.

“I was intrigued by the prospect of natural healing and wondered why everyone wasn’t under the care of a chiropractor,” explains Marty. He opened Family Chiropractic of Lancaster in 1989 and has dedicated his professional life to helping others discover the power of holistic healing.

Marty’s son, Dr. Bryan Rodgers, joined the practice 11 years ago, and Dr. Sam Saikia came on board in 2014. The doctors work in conjunction with therapists and other natural health practitioners to provide comprehensive care to all of their patients. “We are truly a family-based office,” says Marty. “We treat everyone from infants to the elderly and we try to integrate as much natural health care into our office as possible.”

Many patients visit Family Chiropractic for the treatment of common ailments, including neck and back injuries, allergies, headaches and digestive disorders, but the practice is not limited to these issues. “Chiropractic care is great for everything, and the treatments we provide allow our patients to have the quality of life they want,” says Saikia. “It is our goal to see patients get back to living their normal life without pain.” The staff at Family Chiropractic accomplishes this goal by really listening to their clients and conducting in-depth diagnostic testing, both prior to and after treatment, to monitor progress.

“We want to figure out what is really wrong with each client and not just treat the symptoms,” says Marty. “We actually want to see improvement in the lifestyle of each patient. We ask every new patient who comes to our office what is most important to them. Are they a gardener, a runner or a diver? Do they enjoy knitting or tennis? We use the answers they provide to tailor a care plan to suit their individual needs.”

While treatment is certainly a priority at Family Chiropractic of Lancaster, it is not the only focus. Bryan explains, “We spend a lot of time with patients, helping them with issues that aren’t necessarily related to the reasons they came into the office. There is a genuine effort to try to educate people and help them find resolutions to the problems that impact their quality of life. Our goal as a practice is to be a holistic resource for people, offering benefits that go far beyond neck and back pain.” To achieve this objective, Family Chiropractic offers Tuesday night workshops.

“We are always reading about the most current issues in holistic care—organic foods, GMOs, nutrition and more,” says Marty. “We seek out the truth about health issues that matter to our families and share these truths with our patients. Each workshop features a different topic, and we strive to offer the most up-to-date information about each subject so that clients can make educated decisions about how to care for their families.” The workshops are free and open to anyone in the community who would like to attend.
