Lancaster Ag Products Hosts Real Health Through Agriculture Educational Conference

Lancaster Agriculture Products, in Ronks, will present its annual Real Health Conference, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., February 13, for a full day of lectures and hands-on demonstrations led by field experts in sustainable and organic agriculture. With more than 31 seminars discussing topics from how food affects individual health to the best herd management techniques, participants will further their understanding of the organic lifestyle. 

 

Drs. Michael McNeill and Donald Huber will give the Keynote Lecture, GMOs in Our Food Today, during which they will discuss the interaction of GMOs and glyphosate on soil, plant, animal and human health. Attendees will learn about previously unknown side effects and crop disease agents associated with glyphosate, which has been commonly accepted as benign.  

 

As an extra bonus,Dr. Arden Andersen will present Agriculture, Food and Cancer, at 6 p.m., on February 12.This special session examines the link between conventional agricultural practices and the increased prevalence of disease, particularly cancer. 

 

Seminar highlights include: How Lack of Minerals Affects Todays Human Health; GMOs: Making Lemonade from Lemons; Organic Veterinary Care and Calf Rearing; Minerals and Microbiology: A Productive Relationship; Dairy Herd Digestive Health; Building and Understanding Soil; Orchard Health and Systems; Livestock Selection; Why We Eat Clay; and Hormone and Thyroid Function. 

 

Food is a vital experience at this event.  The program schedule includes three food demonstrations by Jonathan and Nina White: Fermented Foods: Good for the Gut; Heritage Grain and Baking; and Put the Life Back Into Dairy and Cultured Butter. Lunch includes buffet, soup and salad. The Lancaster Ag Team and Stoltzfus Family serve local organic products that are prepared on site. 

Lancaster Agriculture Products was started in 1994 by co-founders Stephen E. Stoltzfus and his son Reuben. For over 20 years, Lancaster Ag has worked to serve family farmers, produce growers and gardeners with sustainable, biological and organic agricultural products.
