Tom Wachtmann, doctor of chiropractic, is hosting Dave Brown, a registered vascular technologist, of Baseline Medical, who will perform carotid artery Intimal Media Thickness (IMT) ultrasound screenings, at Link Chiropractic, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., February 15th. The FDA-approved, painless, non-invasive screenings, done while clients are fully clothed, determine risk for heart attack and stroke. No prior preparation is necessary; registration is required. 

As a vascular physiologist, Brown utilizes portable state-of-the-art imaging platforms to produce sophisticated ultrasound images of carotid arteries. Hundreds of digital measurements are taken during the first five-minute procedure, as the sonographer gently slides the ultrasound probe over each side of a client’s neck to see how thick the artery walls are, determining heart attack risk. Other measurements in the carotid arteries are also obtained in another five-minute protocol done specifically for stroke risk. Results are given immediately following the screenings.
