Afternoon of Yogic Sleep in Downtown Lancaster
Radiance, of Lancaster, is hosting Yoga Nidra: Cultivating Ease, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., July 12. The afternoon workshop explores yogic sleep intended to nourish participants by expediting a peaceful, healing state that assists them in letting go of anxiety and patterns of striving that negatively affect the nervous system.
Rooted in ancient yoga, this practice is a natural introduction to meditation. Clinical research supports the approach’s ability to lessen states of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain and insomnia. No movement is required; the session is experienced lying down. Everyone is welcome and participants are encouraged to bring pillows, blankets and a notebook or journal for a post-session, reflective writing period.
Guest instructor Joy Kirstin is a certified iRest yoga nidra teacher with 25 years of experience in Earth-based spiritual practices. She was introduced to yoga nidra in 2003 and immediately began incorporating it into her work with individuals and groups. Kirstin also maintains a thriving international coaching practice and has created a popular yoga nidra CD; she lives and teaches in the Washington, DC, area.
