Berks County Celebrates Earth Day at Riverfront Park

The annual Berks County Earth Day Festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., April 27, at Riverfront Park. The all-ages, family-friendly celebration offers eco-aware organizations giving educational information, tips and demonstrations about current local and global environmental issues and ways to live more sustainably.

Berks Gas Truth and the United Sludge-Free Alliance will present workshops in the main tent, and exhibitors include the Sierra Club Kittatinny Group, Eastern Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Operators and more. Engaging children’s activities include a live animal demonstration by the Pocono Snake and Animal Farm at 1 p.m. in the children’s tent.

The main stage will host live music and entertainment. Mark Seaman of Livin’ in the Rhythm and Nurture Your Nature will lead an open drum circle throughout the day; attendees are welcome to bring hand drums and acoustic instruments to join in. Meals and snacks will be available for purchase from local food vendors onsite.
