Kirtan Ecstatic Chant at Radiance

Poet, songwriter and storyteller John Terlazzo will lead an evening of kirtan, a call-and-response form of ecstatic chanting, and also his original songs, folk tales and poems, from 7 to 9 p.m., February 21, at Radiance, in Lancaster. For kirtan, Terlazzo, who plays the guitar and Indian harmonium, will sing a sacred phrase that the audience will repeat. The songs comprise a number of spiritual traditions. As a former poet-in-residence for the city schools of York, Pennsylvania, Terlazzo has facilitated writing workshops and given hundreds of poetry readings and concerts of his original songs throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe.

Radiance is a retail shop owned by community herbalist Sarah Preston that vends organic herbs, herbal products, wearable art and fair-trade merchandise. Preston, also a Reiki master teacher, brings special events to the shop.
