GMO Free Lancaster County will host a March Against Monsanto, at 2 p.m., October 12, as part of an international event on World Food Day. The nonprofit is inviting community members to gather in Penn Square for a peaceable protest against Monsanto, a corporation that is instrumental in gaining government support to replace naturally grown foods with genetically modified seeds. Participants will proceed together to Musser Park for a rally that will feature speaker Emily Givler, a pediatric nutritional consultant who will speak on the health hazards of genetically modified organisms. Non-GMO food samplings and children’s activities will be featured. The family event is open to anyone that wants to learn more about GMOs and to support local organic alternatives.

GMO Free Lancaster County is a volunteer-run organization with the primary goal to educate community members about genetically modified food and empower them with the right tools to make safe food choices for themselves and their families.

Location: Penn Square, downtown Lancaster. For more information, visit GMOFreeLancasterCounty.org. To RSVP or volunteer, visit FACEBOOK.COM/GMOFREELANCASTERCOUNTYORG.
