Juicing and Mindful Eating Wellness Workshops

Jaclyn Downs, of Get Balanced Wellness, will lead two September workshops: The Joy of Juicing, at Family Trees Birthplace, in New Holland, at 6 p.m., September 16, and The Benefits of Mindful Eating, at Be Well Lancaster, in Lancaster, at 6:30 p.m., September 25. Downs, a certified yoga instructor and doula, is also board certified as a nutrition coach. She studied at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and offers wellness expertise based on a person-centered, holistic approach.

In The Joy of Juicing, Downs demonstrates how to make smoothies and freshly squeezed juices that boost immunity, remove toxins, enhance digestion, reduce inflammation and promote overall health by introducing more fruits and vegetables into daily diets. She will provide recipes and cover the health benefits of juicing, as well as how to choose a juicer and how to avoid common mistakes.

In The Benefits of Mindful Eating, Downs discusses how to make healthier meal choices, as well as the positive and nurturing opportunities that are available through conscious food preparation and consumption. Mindful eating reduces overeating, eases the burden on digestive systems and aids weight loss.
