 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Shank’s Tavern Offers Vegetarian and Gluten-free Entrées

Over the past year, Shank’s Tavern, in Marietta, which has been owned by the Shank family for 83 years and was opened originally in 1814, has added a vegetarian menu, as well as gluten-free entrées and beers. It also boasts creative, non-fried, themed specials nightly, including Vietnamese pho (rice noodle soup), beef on a weck (German kaiser roll baked with caraway and kosher salt), seafood and more.

Owner Bob Shank decided to offer the new menu options because he noticed that people generally were becoming more health conscious. He hopes that guests will be able to enjoy the local historical spot, as well as bountiful menu options. In addition, the tavern uses vegetables grown locally and meats purchased from Andy’s Market, a family business that has operated in Columbia for more than 55 years.

Location: 36 S. Waterford Ave., Marietta. For more information, call 717-427-1205, email [email protected] or visit ShanksTavern.com.
