African Festival Benefits Kenyan Community

 

The Rafiki African Foundation will be holding its fifth annual African Festival, along with a second annual 5K race, at Lancaster County Christian School, at 9 a.m., May 4, with 5K registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Festivities feature the Nbonye African Drum and Dance Ensemble, Franklin & Marshall African Drummers and the Cocalico Uimba Children’s Drummers and Dancers. Exhibitors and local vendors will display fair trade African crafts, clothing and jewelry, as well as African food and coffee. Children’s activities include African storytelling, games, face painting and more.

The Rafiki Africa Foundation was created as a bridge of hope for families and children facing challenging living conditions in Africa. The nonprofit provides resources, training and support for achieving sustainable growth and optimum health among the 300 students, 400 families and thousands of children it serves in the community Alendu, Kenya.
