 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Students and Artists Raise Funds for Montessori School

Lee Lovett, a visiting artist with Red Raven Art Company, is collaborating with primary and elementary students from The New School of Lancaster to create renditions of two of Vincent Van Gogh’s famous paintings for the school’s largest annual fundraising event, Maria’s Table, April 6, at the Lancaster Country Club. The pieces created by the children will be part of a live auction during the Italian-themed celebration that honors the legacy of educational visionary Dr. Maria Montessori. The event comprises silent and live auctions, special raffles, hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner and dancing to a live band.

The public can also see these two pieces displayed at The Ware Center, on Prince Street, during the First Friday art walk, April 5, in downtown Lancaster. “It’s wonderful that people like Art Harrington, a retired art teacher, and Lee Lovett, both of Red Raven Art Company, are so invested in art education for children,” comments Natalie Petersen, a parent volunteer leading the project.

The New School of Lancaster is a private, independent, nonprofit Montessori school serving children ages 20 months through eighth grade.
