Gayatri Wellness, located in Northern Bernville, Berks County, has added a new community-supported agriculture (CSA) component to their eclectic healing center to enhance their promotion of healthy living and to connect consumers with local farmers. Registered yoga teacher Lucine Mackow and her husband Eric Mackow established the center in a peaceful, rural setting about three years ago, with the intent to teach self-care through yoga, sustainable agriculture and outdoor adventure.
From its original kitchen garden, Gayatri’s sustainable agriculture concept has grown to include the CSA with a seasonal pick-your-own option, karma exchange (free yoga/garden volunteer opportunities), and farm-to-table programs with local restaurants and natural foods retailers. The Mackows also produce seasonal cooking workshops and potlucks.
Born of trust in the ability to live the life that one loves and creates, the Mackows dream has evolved to support others on their paths to wellness. Lucine leads hatha yoga, group meditation, pranayama (yogic breathing), community and corporate workshops and silent retreats. Eric, a certified arborist by trade, promotes sustainable living practices at the farm by overseeing the greenhouse and growing practices.
