The New School of Lancaster Hosts Open House

The New School of Lancaster will host a winter open house for all interested families, from 1 to 3 p.m., February 24; additional open houses, for parents only, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., February 20 and 21. These opportunities will enable families to learn more about the unique advantages of a Montessori education and to gather enrollment and scholarship information. The public can enjoy light refreshments as they tour the four-story school, view the renovated entryway and lobby, and meet with school administrators and Montessori-trained teachers of levels from toddlers to middle schoolers. Programs are offered for children from ages 20 months to eighth grade.

Central to the New School’s philosophy is a deep respect for the unique potential of each child in the program. “Montessori classes are organized to encompass a three-year age span,” explains Head of School Mary Cae Williams, “which allows younger children to experience the daily stimulation of older role models, who in turn blossom with the responsibilities of leadership."

The school provides an individualized and hands-on approach to learning based on the philosophy, research and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori, who recognized that children develop at different rates intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.
