 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Mind, Belly, and Soul Teaches Harmonizing Birth Experience

Local doula Gwen McComsey will lead a six-week series of childbirth education classes involving the Yoga Birth Method, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Mondays, beginning January 7 and ending February 11, 2013, at St. Andrew United Church, in Lancaster. The classes aim to empower women and couples to experience a more harmonious birthing experience. McComsey has been offering holistic birthing support for mothers and their partners since she established Mind, Belly, and Soul in the summer of 2011.

The Yoga Birth Method is an eight-step pathway that includes intention setting and guidance for learning mindful breathing patterns. This natural approach to managing pain and making informed decisions during labor optimizes a sense of peace and calm during natural childbirth. Classes will also include yoga poses for strength and flexibility that aid in enhancing alignment and preparing for labor. The class series will create a safe space for discussing personal experiences, and the method can be used in any setting.

Cost: $195 per mother/couple. Location: 701 North Lime St., Lancaster. For more information or to register, call 717-371-7123, email [email protected] or visit MindBellyAndSoul.com
