Shift 2012: Celebrating a New Age Globally

This winter solstice, December  21, is the cosmically expected date of birth for a new age of conscious evolution on our planet. Conscious evolution means we evolve by choice, not by chance. The call to humanity is to choose co-evolution with nature and co-creation with spirit. When we choose connection with all life from our heart center, we will create a global community. Joined together in universal love and unconditional oneness, the possibilities for peace, prosperity and joy become reality.

Birth 2012 is a global celebration marking December 22, as day one of the great shift to a sustainable world. The event will take place in major cities that include Los Angeles, California; Tucson, Arizona; London, England; Sydney, Australia; and Paris, France; and at locations in Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Organizers expect that it will lead to focused efforts in 2013 for creating positive change in every community and beyond. Renowned futurist and author Barbara Marx Hubbard is acting as the visionary voice for the event, traveling the world to engage people in the movement. Some of the world’s biggest names in science, sustainability, peace and evolutionary consciousness have been confirmed as the Global Welcoming Committee for the event, including Deepak Chopra, Bruce Lipton, Michael Beckwith, Neale Donald Walsch and Jack Canfield.

In Berks County, a daylong local observance will coincide with the worldwide celebration. Presented by Living Well in Berks and co-hosted by Mary Palmer, Diane Lauer and Diane Trieb, the day will begin with a complimentary, continental prayer breakfast, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the Canal Street Pub, 535 Canal Street, in Reading. Local religious and spiritual leaders will facilitate meditation and prayer for unity and peace in our city and county. Discussion will explore the positive future this shift in consciousness holds for our local environment.

After breakfast, the T.E.A. Factory, located behind the Canal Street Pub, at 580 Willow Street, will host a Shift 2012 Open House, showcasing local music, dance, poetry and art, including the visual art of Ed Terrell and Mike Miller. The event will begin with a kirtan led by David Dragonfly, from noon to 12:45 p.m. Bob Hasler will perform on acoustic guitar from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Mark Seaman will lead a drum circle from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The day will proceed with chanting, drumming, dancing, singing and eating—all in celebration of the greatness of the human spirit. This community gathering on this special day is an opportunity for everyone to embrace the possibilities held by this shift in consciousness.
