Fresco Green and the Susquehanna Sustainable Business Network are teaming up to create Lancaster’s first cash mob events. Cash mobs encourage people to gather and spend about $20 each at a chosen small, local business, giving the owner a bit of economic stimulus. Participants also agree to make new connections during the event, strengthening their network of friends, neighbors and businesses and building a cycle of giving and receiving that will continue throughout the local business community.

The first cash mob was held in Buffalo, New York, in August 2011. Since then, the events have popped up across the U.S. and Canada, organized by various groups of people that want to have fun while making a positive impact on the local businesses in their communities.
