Backyard Wildlife: Safety and Rehabilitation with Raven Ridge
Presented in partnership with Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, this session will cover when and how to safely help wildlife and connect them with the care they need.
Have you ever come across a sick or injured animal and weren’t sure what to do?
Join us for an evening of learning about wildlife rehabilitation and safety with Raven Ridge Wildlife Center. Discover how animals arrive at a rehabilitation center, what happens during their care, and the process that leads to their release back into the wild.
Many people want to help when they find injured wildlife, but don’t know where to start. This program will cover the risks of interacting with wildlife, including exposure to rabies and other diseases, as well as risks to pets, children, and the environment, while also giving you the tools to respond safely and effectively.
We’ll also clear up common misconceptions. Many animals that people think need help are actually healthy and displaying normal behaviors. You’ll learn how to recognize true emergencies, handle everyday situations from home, and connect animals with trained rehabilitators.
You will learn:
- An inside look at the wildlife rehabilitation process
- Essential safety guidelines for helping wildlife
- How to recognize when an animal needs help (and when it doesn’t)
- Simple ways to support your local wildlife rehab center
After this program, you’ll feel confident in knowing when and how to safely help an animal, giving it the best chance at survival. We will end with time for Q&A so you can get answers to any specific questions you may have.
