Tending to the Body That Remembers

Trauma-informed class looks at how being “embodied” increases our capacity to stay present -- with 6 CE and psychodrama credits.

Trauma is not an emotional response or a psychological response. It is a body response. As Dr. J.L. Moreno famously said, “The body remembers what the mind forgets.” and he developed the active method of psychodrama to explore life problems.

In this training, Tending to the Body That Remembers What the Mind Forgets, conducted by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, and Gisele Silva, LMT, BCST, we look at how being “embodied” increases our capacity to stay present as healing practitioners and how this capacity supports the people we work with. As we teach others – especially those who are survivors of trauma – to build and extend their capacity, they grow and heal.

In this body-informed and trauma-informed training, you will learn how to:

• Create safety for the brain and the body.

• Adjust and work with your nervous system as a professional so that you can “ground” yourself and serve as a grounding resource for others.

• Teach the people you work with to become more comfortable with their nervous systems, trusting their bodies, creating more space for energetic flow and reducing the “freeze” that happens with trauma.

• Use psychodrama and its “body double” technique in role play to support your people being present with and friendly to their bodies.

• Gently reverse peoples’ alienation from their bodies and appreciate our innate body intelligence.
