Becoming a Body-Informed Trauma Therapist

Introducing the concept of a “body-informed” approach and how therapists and other helping professionals can begin to loosen the grip of trauma...

We are coining the phrase “body-informed therapy” to go with today’s phrase of “trauma-informed.” The truth is, we need to be informed on multiple levels when we work with survivors of trauma, and knowing how to work with the body is essential for emotional co-regulation and healing.

Join Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, and Gisele Silva, LMT, for this all-day in-person training on Aug. 12 in Lancaster, Pa., where you will learn:

  • How trauma impacts the body physically, emotionally and energetically.
  • How talk therapy has its limits in addressing trauma and how experiential methods support trauma healing when offered safely and appropriately.
  • How to integrate experiential methods into talk psychotherapy, including psychodrama’s Body Double, other psychodramatic structures and components of Family Constellations and  Somatic Experiencing.
  • How to direct discussions of the body experience and integrate an attitude of curiosity as well as powerful somatic tools into talk therapy, experiential therapy and other kinds of healing modalities.
  • Issues of interest when working with groups and individuals.

CE and psychodrama credits available.
