Patrick Pagano Exhibit: PICTOMANCY

Exhibit: Patrick Pagano "PICTOMANCY"
Richard B. Talkin Family Art Gallery: January 30 - April 16, 2023
CLOSED DURING SPRING BREAK: APRIL 3 - APRIL 9, 2023
Reception: TBD
PICTOMANCY is a multimedia interactive digital fine art media installation by Howard Community College faculty member Patrick Pagano. An "ephemeral hierophany", PICTOMANCY is a re-combination of the visual source materials acquired and subjected to a neo-magical divination process.
Visitors to the installation can interact with computer peripherals: Midi controllers & a Leap Motion will allow visitors to address and "tweak" the video elements of the exhibit.
Core materials for the exhibit date back to 2004-2009 when Pagano under the moniker, "Humans Need Lumens" performed live visuals at electronic music and rock concerts across the United States & Australia. Inside the installation, Pagano uses media elements programmed in Max8, VDMX & Isadora software.
The artist will visit the installation several times during the exhibit to share programming insights, digital fine art practice, process & delivery strategies and exploit media artifacts that have been appropriated, plundered and re-contextualized over the past 15 years.
