"Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar with his intellectual and spiritual practices has masterminded the techniques which can be used by all practitioners of yoga. "Research based experience" and "experience based research" has helped him in evolving this technique which is now known as"Iyengar Yoga". He has therefore made it possible for ordinary human beings to experience the wisdom of the yoga sutras.   Iyengar yoga is meant for all and is a way of life. The use of props, designed by Guruji , such as wooden gadgets, belts, ropes helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any asana. Regular practice of 'Iyengar Yoga' definitely integrates the body, mind and emotions.

What are the unique features of "Iyengar Yoga"? -  Iyengar Yoga can be practiced by all. -  The emphasis is given to precision and alignment in all postures. -  The use of self designed props such as wooden gadgets, belts, ropes helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in all the postures. -  The aspect of "sequencing". An "Iyengar Yoga" practitioner is aware of the sequence in which different groups of asanas have to be performed."

About Amy Weber

Lilias Yoga!  planted the seed in the 1970s. As my practice matured, I appreciated the Iyengar teachings including alignment, timing and sequencing, especially the idea of bringing consciousness to every part of the body. I attended the Casey Health Institute and in June 2017 completed their 200 hour curriculum taught by senior Iyengar teachers.  In 2016 and 2018, I participated in the Yoganusasanum in Pune India and studied with the Iyengars at conventions and during this pandemic through online teaching sessions.  I continue my studies with senior Iyengar teachers, Dean and Rebecca Lerner and Holly Walck Kostura. I pass on what I have learned from my teachers.
