Learn how to keep clients with substance abuse disorders and trauma histories from being emotionally overwhelmed while supporting them to move forward in recovery i In this workshop, "Building Strength and Resiliency for Individuals with Substance Use Disorder and Others with Trauma" led by Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP.
We will explore the basic prescriptive roles of the Therapeutic Spiral Model, an action model that adapts classic psychodrama for greater safety for trauma survivors, and show how these roles can be adapted in working with recovering individuals and others in various settings. In this workshop, you will learn:
■ The definition of trauma from a role perspective.
■ The three categories of strengths that survivors of trauma need to integrate to move forward in their recovery and healing.
■ How to support our clients in recognizing and integrating strengths with language, props and simple action methods including safe role play.
