Counseling for Foster/Adoptive Parents
Matters of the Heart Counseling, LLC, hosts two foster care/adoption support groups. One meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at Wheatland Presbyterian, located at 1125 Columbia Avenue, in Lancaster. Another meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the third Monday of the month at 1987 State Street, in East Petersburg.
Owner Karen Mummau says, “Foster and adoptive parents have a unique challenge of parenting children who have experienced trauma. This uniqueness is understood by few, and we want to support families in this journey.” Each support group is led by adoptive parents that have or are now living the journey.
