Thomas Wachtmann graduated from Lock Haven University with a bachelor of science degree in health science and began exploring different specialty areasChiropractic seemed like a natural path to explore given that his older brother, by ten years, was already a practicing chiropractor and his great-grandmother had been a chiropractor.

“My great-grandmother was one of the first women to become a chiropractor,” notes WachtmannShe moved to Iowa to attend the Palmer School of Chiropractic, and had B.J. Palmer, known as the developer of chiropractic, as her instructor. After graduation, she moved back to New York City, opened an office on Wall Streetand was a chiropractor for many years.

Wachtmann discovered that he connected with the philosophy of chiropractic because of its effectiveness in supporting the nervous system by keeping the spine and its supporting tissue in proper alignment, allowing the body to use its innate ability to heal itself.

“As I was exploring a specialty area, chiropractic resonated with me because I wanted to be able to view each client as a whole person and not the sum of their parts,” affirms Wachtmann. “Chiropractic is holistically oriented and focuses on fixing problems, not simply masking symptoms.

Committed to helping people of all ages, he provides chiropractic services, non-surgical spinal decompression therapy, functional diagnostic medicine, neurologically focused treatments and body contour light therapy for weight loss at his wellness center, Link Chiropractic Clinic, located in Fleetwood.

“Often, people are in pain when they come to see me, and they think they have to live with pain. I do my best to educate each one, letting them know that chiropractic is a safe and effective way to not only relieve pain but to achieve peak performance and optimal health,” relays Wachtmann. “I tell my clients that pain relief is a side effect of chiropractic care. The main effect is that it frees up the pressure on the nervous system which helps the brain to talk to the body so that true healing can occur like it should.

Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy increases the space between the vertebrae and reduces spinal pressure, relieving chronic back pain, inflammation, and herniated or bulging discs, thus restoring biomechanical function and releasing the body’s natural healing powers. Through careful assessment, Wachtmann determines if decompression therapy is a good fit for an individual treatment plan. It is even possible to assist people who have spinal hardware from back surgery.

Functional diagnostic medicine is patient-centered and focused on finding and treating the cause of many disorders and diseases rather than just suppressing symptoms. It provides nutritional and herbal support for common problems associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, adrenals, thyroid, digestion, fertility and more. Wachtmann can order more-detailed lab tests to provide a comprehensive diagnosis that informs his treatment plans for clients. Any supplements he recommends are nutrient-dense, made from whole foods that support and heal the body.

Contour light technology assists with weight loss. After fat cells are exposed to a specific wavelength, 99 percent of the fat is released from the cells, entering the lymphatic system as free fatty acids to be used as energy. Each session is followed by the intake of water and some form of exercise, such as a vibration plate, so that the free fatty acids are used and flushed through the body systems. The result is inch loss and impressive spot reduction on the body.

Wachtmann has over 16 years of experience working with newborns to the elderly, professional athletes from The Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, professional musicians and other health care providers, in addition to being the team physician for his local, semi-professional, championship-winning football team. The knowledge he has gained is that one of the keys to true vitality is to maintain good health and not wait until it fails before doing something about it.

“I practice what I preach by taking supplements, eating healthy, cleansing with the 21-day purification program and participating in activities that exercise my body and mind,” enthuses Wachtmann. “Whether I am mountain biking, hiking, camping, skiing, playing my guitar, flying remote-control planes or working on vehicles, I am enjoying life to the fullest and experiencing true vitality.”
