 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Buddhist Priest Starts Koan Meditation Group

Zen Buddhist priest Chris Peterson will offer guidance to individuals using Buddhist thought, psychology and spiritual techniques to help them awaken to their lives. He is especially interested in the use of koans as a means to awakening the heart. These Zen parables, or posed questions, are utilized as a unique form of meditation that redirects the analytical mind. Under the guidance of the modern Koan Master John Tarrant, author of Bring Me the Rhinoceros: And Other Zen Koans that Will Save Your Life, Peterson is organizing a Lancaster-based koan group.

He has studied with and been ordained by Buddhist teacher and author Sensei Anthony Stultz, founder of the Blue Mountain Lotus Society. Peterson’s interests and experience include meditation instruction, mindfulness counseling and navigating the midlife transition.
