Dr. Owen Allison, owner of Susquehanna Dental Arts, in Columbia, is now licensed to use a gentle, non-surgical laser treatment to keep gums healthy. He says, “Laser can reduce the discomfort of canker sores, aid in the treatment of gum disease and remove inflamed gum tissue painlessly, with no incisions or sutures.”
Susquehanna Dental Arts also offers the safe removal of defective amalgam (mercury) fillings. The office features state-of-the-art machines that filter mercury out of the air while old fillings are removed, as well as an amalgam separator to prevent extracted mercury from contaminating public wastewater. All restorations are done with bonded, tooth-colored composites or porcelain.
Allison has a special interest in holistic health care and has trained extensively in energy medicine with the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Healing Therapies. He is fully accredited with the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Technology, the leading coalition of mercury-free dentists worldwide. Susquehanna Dental Arts is also a certified member of the Centers for Dental Medicine, which views dentistry as a whole-body discipline.
