Support local artisans and culture this holiday season with Historic Schaefferstown’s annual Christkindlmarkt! This popular event is the perfect time to get some Christmas shopping done and find unique presents. The Christkindlmarkt is an open-air market that takes place in many German towns and villages so that folks may enjoy their Christmas shopping among friends. Schaefferstown's Christkindlmarkt is a replica of its European cousin, except that it's held indoors. Again, Historic Schaefferstown is partnering with St. Paul’s UCC in Schaefferstown to host the event. The venue’s address is 1304 Heidelberg Ave., Schaefferstown, PA 17088. Christkindlmarkt will open on Friday, December 9th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and continue through Saturday, December 10th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Parking can be found in the church parking lot. Credit cards and cash are both accepted. Entry and parking are free to Christkindlmarkt and features over 20 different artisans selling their crafts. The market features hand-crafted works created by local artisans, including balsam wreaths and Christmas decorations, folk art wood carvings, feather trees, quilt art, hooked rugs, penny rugs, hand-woven gifts and much more. Shoppers can enjoy more history as they dine in The Franklin House, a local tavern and restaurant since 1746, and located only a short distance away from the show on the town square. “I have found the most unique Christmas presents while shopping at Christkindlmarkt - the artisans are all so talented!” said Schaefferstown native, Juliana Lawrence.
