Designed for writers and artists in any genre, this generative workshop invites participants to interact with the PCA&D Main Gallery Exhibition “Ana Vizcarra Rankin: Butterfly Effect” and develop new work. Ana Vizcarra Rankin is an Uruguayan-American artist based in Philadelphia. She makes drawings, paintings, and sculptures about travel and cartography and, most recently, star maps. Using images captured with powerful telescopes and other mediating technologies such as global positioning systems, she creates art that explores the phenomenological sense of being in and of the universe. Students will be guided through the gallery and prompted to respond in writing to specific works of art (ekphrasis).
Accessibility: This workshop requires movement throughout the gallery and a portion of the gallery is only accessible by stairs. Please contact us with any accessibility questions or requests.
